Market Research
Market research is a very important part of any business that wants to offer products or services that are focused and well targeted. Business decisions that are based on good intelligence and good market research can minimize risk and pay dividends. Market research can help shape a new product or service, identify the need, and ensure that the development of a product is highly centered towards demand. It can create benchmarks and helps entrepreneurs measure the progress. Sometimes, findings of appropriate research can help to communicate better.
From the present context of Bangladesh, market and product diversion is extremely important as the high labor-intensive export basket becomes very concentrated on a few markets. About 90 per cent of our export, of which about 83 percent is readymade garments, goes to the USA and to EU countries. The high dependence of the entire export basket on a few labor-based manufacturing sectors fetches the necessity to diversify the basket with new products for new destinations.
The Chamber conducts action-based market research to cater to the needs of the members and provide guidelines whenever necessary. The findings of the studies are shared with the private sector and the public sector from time to time.
Financial Market Analysis
The Chamber carefully observes the financial market and conducts research or analytical studies in order to provide support to the government in policy formulation and better market regulation. The research/analysis also helps the Chamber to understand the situation of the market. It also helps the member firms and policymakers to have a clear understanding of the existing situation and on-time forecast in the context of national and international development. The studies generally are not in published form.
Information Dissemination
The Chamber disseminates business information and its views through various published documents/materials. For that purpose, it produces a number of publications which are very popular within the country and abroad. Among those, Chamber News, Quarterly Economic Review, Bangladesh’s Economy, and Annual Report are important. For further details, please visit PUBLICATIONS page.
Trade and Investment Facilitation Services
The Chamber provides trade and investment facilitation related advisory services to the members and non-member institutions. The service is rendered through consultancy covering recipients ranging from an individual businessman to various corporate. The service covers:
- Assistance in business startup and further support through providing accurate or up-to-date information regarding regulatory issues of export-import procedure, investment requirements, licensing, and others;
- Consultancy service for other regulatory issues;
- Business matchmaking like B2B or B2G Meetings, etc.;
- Support in trade missions & exhibitions; and
- Other related services.
Sector Review or Survey
In order to cater to the needs of research and sector review, conducting survey is essential. The Chamber has the facility to conduct surveys for various types of qualitative and quantitative research. It also takes support from various research firms and other related institutions depending on the nature and type of study/survey for any specific purpose. However, the service is limited and involvement of the Chamber depends upon request.
